Residential House Fire
At approximately 9:45pm on Monday evening, Moyers Corners was alerted by the Onondaga County 911 Center for a reported attached garage fire on Warbler Way, near Falcon Drive in the Station 1 response area.
Engine 11 and Car 2 [D/C Bailey] were en route immediately on dispatch, and upon arrival, indicated heavy smoke showing from the garage and struck the Signal 99, indicating a working fire.
Engine 11 deployed a handline to the building and began extinguishing the fire, while other companies began to arrive and complete their normal assignments, including laddering the structure, searching for victims, securing utilities, and deploying secondary hose lines.
Due to the recent cold temperatures, there were difficulties with nearby hydrants. However, this did not impact operations in any way, as our department regularly drills on these cold weather situations.
The fire department was assisted on-scene by the Northwest Fire District, the New York State Police, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, NOVA Ambulance, the Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit, and MCFD Fire Police Unit.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or fire department personnel, and the cause is under investigation.
