At approximately 9am, Moyers Corners was alerted by the Onondaga County 911 Center for a reported residential fire on Shallowcreek Road, in the Station 4 response area.

Initial reports indicated that there was a National Grid crew that arrived to do some work and discovered smoke coming from the structure. Upon the arrival of Car 4 [D/C Eldred] and OCSO, it was discovered that there was an active fire in the basement and declared a Signal 99 (Working Fire).

Belgium Engine 11 (who was in the area with their career staff of 2) arrived shortly after Car 4 and began deploying a handline to the structure. Truck 2 [Capt Carroll] arrived after Belgium and assisted in deploying the handline to the basement and extinguishing the fire.

Additional companies also began arriving and completed their assigned fireground duties – including Engine 41, Engine 32, Engine 21, and Ladder 1.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by Phoenix, Belgium-Cold Springs, Clay, Lakeside, North Syracuse, Northwest, Fairmount, and Liverpool. NOVA Ambulance was also on-scene, as well as members of the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and the Moyers Corners Fire Police Unit.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit. There were no injuries to members of the public or Fire Department personnel.
